Water Safety Ireland PAWS workshop
Rosie from Water Safety Ireland visited the school and taught us about water safety.
PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety) is a programme developed by Irish Water Safety that teaches children essential water-safety skills. Through age-appropriate lessons, pupils learn how to stay safe around pools, beaches, rivers and at home, helping them become more confident and responsible near water.
All of the children practised putting on their life jackets.
The Junior Room started off their Christmas trip with a visit to Rascals Play Centre in Kiltimagh. They burned off lots of energy running and jumping around with their friends.
They all really enjoyed the Christmas Show in the Town Hall Theatre. Everyone was in the Christmas spirit.
The girls in 2nd Class put on a gymnastics show at break time for everyone to enjoy. They had some super moves.
The infants enjoyed getting to touch and learn about our native wild mammals.
Thank you to Carol & Madeline from Connemara National Park who gave us an interesting talk about natie mammals.
The Junior Room at Belmont N.S. is a vibrant and nurturing space where Infants - 2nd classes learn, play, and grow together. With the support of a dedicated classroom teacher and SET (Special Education Teacher), each child receives the guidance they need to thrive.
Our approach is rooted in play-based learning, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and confidence from the very beginning. Mixed-age classes provide wonderful opportunities for peer learning, where children learn from and support one another in a warm, inclusive environment.
